S’madar is the Pluralistic Jewish Women’s a cappella group of the Columbia/ Barnard Hillel. Founded in 2006, S’madar has grown both in number and in talent over the years. We have traveled around the Tri-State Area, and have recently been performing in communities beyond that region. Dedicated to the singing of both Jewish and Secular music, we sing music from a variety of genres. S'madar's repertoire ranges from liturgical music, to contemporary English music, to Israeli pop music, to 80's hits! S’madar performs at schools, community centers, synagogues, celebrations, Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, fundraisers, and we also do workshops! Most importantly, we are a group of young women who love to sing, have fun, and get to know different communities wherever we go.
